Dr. Hallinen's undergraduate degree is in Microbiology from MSU, class of 1992.She worked for
the American Red Cross doing platelet research prior to medical school.She graduated with honors from MSU College of Human Medicine in 1992 and completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at UM in 1995. She has been
on faculty with UM from 1995 to 2008 teaching both medical students and
Emergency Medicine residents. After 13 years of working at Hurley Medical Center
Emergency Department in FLint, Dr. Hallinen was ready for a new adventure. She was
personally successfully treated with acupuncture for a persistent elbow
pain in 2006. This sparked an interest in acupuncture and prompted her to undergo extensive training in the field.
